Emerald Eyes Optical is highly respected by the optical industry and greatly appreciated by its patients because the eyeglasses from the optical provide the absolute very best quality of visions, range of vision, ocular protection from harmful light exposure, and workmanship. With automobiles there is a wide range in the quality, safety, and level of comfort of the car, SUV, or minivans. There is an even greater difference in these important factors with eyeglasses. Most often, the eyeglass lenses provided in new spectacles from other opticals are produced from poor quality lens materials and an ill-advised lack or negligible protection from harmful UV light rays emitted from the sun, desktop/laptop computers, tablets, cell phones, and other electronic devices. Very surprisingly is that even with the purchase of a stylish or “high end” frame elsewhere, the most important component of the eyeglasses, namely the lenses, are very suboptimal at the vast majority of opticals, thereby reducing quality of visions, ocular safety, and overall comfort.
For clear single vision lenses, Dr. Alan Mendelsohn and Dr. Nathan Klein are strong advocates of the Essilor Eyezen lens. First and foremost, the quality of vision is unparalleled. Second, 95% of Americans utilize digital devices in excess of two hours per day; every screen emits harmful blue light, also known as HEV. Eyezen lenses are a superb product for helping filter out HEV. Third, with accomodative relief built within these lenses, eyes are more relaxed and comfortable, thereby reducing or eliminating digital eye strain.
Clear progressive lenses (utilized for indoor use and driving at night), and sunglass progressive lenses, are the forte of Emerald Eyes Optical. Elsewhere, in the industry, due to inferior quality and design of progressive lenses, ten percent of patients cannot adapt to their glasses while an even higher percentage of patients are displeased with the quality or range of vision while performing certain tasks. At Emerald Eye Optical, we have a phenomenal track record of turning disappointed progressive lens experiences into delighted patients, thrilled with their newfound quality and range of vision with our progressive lenses. We accomplish this success by implementing the very best, newest technologies in ophthalmic lens material and design, combined with stellar workmanship. For many years, Drs. Mendelsohn and Klein have been very pleased with the top tier quality of vision enabled by Varilux S Series lenses. Now, the recently released Varilux X Series is the ultimate premium lens designed for those utilizing digital devices for many hours on the go. Very importantly, the Varilus S and X Series lenses have internal Smart Blue Filter™ embedded into these digital progressive lenses.
Emerald Eyes Optical is also renown for its expertise in achieving unparalleled quality of vision and ocular safety with its sunglasses, especially prescription distance and progressive sunglasses. The vast majority of sunglasses sold in the United States offer negligible to zero protection. Prominent researchers at the National Institute of Health strongly advocate for all of us living in southern states, especially areas such as South Florida to wear sunglasses with maximal protection while outside during daylight hours. This sunglass protection greatly reduces the incidence and severity of ocular maladies such as ocular melanomas, macular degeneration, drusen, pterygium, pingueculas, and eyelid cancers. It is unfair and most unfortunate that most South Floridians, despite wearing sunglasses, are essentially “naked” outdoors. Dr. Mendelsohn and Dr. Klein feel very strongly that two of the most outstanding sunglass options achieving maximal protection from the myriad of ocular disease entities are Maui Jim sunglasses and Xperio polarized sun lenses. Both options provide crisper, sharper, clearer vision without glare; furthermore, they excel at UV400 blocker and blue light filtration on both front and back sides of the lenses.
Dr. Nathan Klein is an outstanding optometrist as well as a renown contact lens specialist. He has a remarkable track record for improving quality of vision, depth of focus, and increasing the number of hours the contact lens wearer can comfortably utilize digital devices without developing digital eye strain. Dr. Klein is available for second opinions. Additionally, Nathan Klein, OD, has an extensive depth and breadth of knowledge in optimizing vision while protecting the eye from potential toxcity from UV light exposure and blue light emissions from digital devices.
Our contact lens department offers a vast inventory of contact lenses including Acuvue, Cooper Vision, Bausch & Lomb and Ciba Vision at competitive prices. Our contact lens specialist provides both soft and gas permeable fittings, including multifocal, gas permeable and toric lenses.
